Controversial mystic and purported channeler Vassula Ryden claims to receive messages “handwritten by Our Lord”

via no more and no less than automatic writing, with said messages containing spelling and grammatical errors!
Vassula Ryden has also been credited with “new doctrines” on mortal sin and sin against the Holy Spirit.

Vassula Ryden puts herself above ecclesiastical jurisdictions and canon laws creating scandal for her own Church and for the Catholic Church everywhere she goes to spread TLIG. The Official Position of the Catholic Church is clear “Catholics should not consider Ms. Ryden’s messages as divine revelations but as personal meditations. The meditations contain elements that are negative in the light of Church doctrine.”
But of course Vassula had a big impact on the prayer group! Somebody got a hold of Vassula’s tape and invited the prayer group for viewing. One would have thought we stumbled onto a goldmine! Looking back, we did in a sense, considering that for the next two years we all bought “True Life in God” publications. We read them and passed them around, it was the latest craze. When I went on a diocesan retreat I took the Vassula tape with me, (by then I had my own copy) and showed it to Sister Adele. Now Sister Adele was a crusty old nun with a heart of gold. She watched the darn thing with me and then she said “What is the point of all this? How do you benefit from it?” Then I got to thinking about the time and money I spent on Vassula that should have gone elsewhere. We can all justify entertainment once in a while. But just don’t make it into your time spent with God. And don’t forget also that hidden heresies are more dangerous than obvious ones.

Hidden heresies can pollute the mind without our realization.
Vassula is busy; the Catholic lecture circuit is a lucrative business. It doesn’t seem to matter that her messages contain doctrinal errors, and that the Sacred Congregation of the Faith advised the laity time and time again not to regard her writings or speeches.
I have not been successful putting a stop to Vassula’s newsletters. Although it gives me a bit of pleasure each time I throw away the unopened envelope. And that they wasted a stamp.
