MURDER-ACCUSED PRIEST IS CHANCELLOR OF MADRAS-MYLAPORE ARCHDIOCESE

KIND ATTENTION: Most Rev. Dr. Pedro Lopez Quintana, Apostolic Nuncio

Your Excellency,

Permit me to bring to your kind attention that the Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore, Rev. Fr. Dr. N. A. Charles Kumar, DCL., is the prime accused in a murder case.

The following is what I have been given to understand from reliable Catholic lay persons and priests:

When he was the parish priest of Our Lady of Purification Church, Manambathy Kandigai, now in Chingleput diocese, bifurcated from Madras-Mylapore, he was arrested and jailed for more than a month as the main accused in the murder of one Selvaraj, a school teacher. This news was reported in all the Tamil daily newspapers and magazines.

Out on bail, Fr. N. A. Charles Kumar is required to report to the Police Inspector at the Maduranthagam Police Station once in every fortnight. On May 23, 2008, he was once again arrested at the Chennai Airport while trying to board a flight to Germany.

He attempted this in violation of the Court orders against his leaving the country. It is evident that he could not have obtained the German visa without the help of some senior and partial ecclesial authority, maybe the Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore.

We would like you to enquire into this part of the matter also. It is well known that there are two groups of priests drawn on the basis of linguistic lines and one such group has the favour of the Archbishop and supports Fr. Charles Kumar.

In fact, he was also arrested at the Basilica Cathedral of St Thomas when he came to concelebrate a wedding Mass in connection with his particular linguistic group, and the police expected him to be present there, which he was.

Such a priest is giving orders and signing documents of the Archdiocese while also signing at a Police Station as a murder-accused.

All this is not only a great shame for our Archdiocese, but also our Church.

Canon Law 483:2 reads: “The Chancellor… must be of unblemished reputation and above suspicion.”

I trust that you will use your good offices to see that this shameful situation is rectified.

Yours obediently,

Michael Prabhu, Chennai www.ephesians-511.net

  1. We laymen are thousand times more faithful to the catholic church than the so called self venerated priests who are to according to Pope Francis should shed arangance, pride Vanity and above all greed for women and money. There is a priest by name SX Amalraj of Madras Mylapore ruling not serving sacred Heart Parish without following the basics of canon law even though it was dinned into him several timeshe does even acknowledge the diocesen guidelines He shamelesly proclaims that he did not come from heaven.
when will the catholic Church disrobe these kind of hard hearted so called priests

  2. Catholic Centre had one Joseph Vincent a priest who was an alcholic and a womaniser managing this vast commercial building which was ruined by him
