Kripa Foundation- A New Age entity endorsed by the Archdiocese of Bombay and the CBCI
In the following three reports, I have incontrovertibly documented that Fr. Joe Pereira‘s Bandra, Mumbai-based Kripa Foundation is New Age.

Fr. Joe Pereira is also the key person in India for the London-based World Community for Christian Meditation [WCCM] founded by [the late] Fr John Main and currently headed by Fr Laurence Freeman OSB.
The WCCM is as New Age as any organization can get notwithstanding its self-description as “Christian” and its “Catholic” origins and management.

The New Age labyrinth has overrun parish churches, religious houses and retreat centres in the West. Now it has reared its head in India, not surprisingly in the Archdiocese of Bombay which has become — with the official approval of the Cardinal Archbishop Oswald Gracias through the medium of the archdiocesan weekly, The Examiner — the launching pad for various alternative therapies, New Age organizations, New Age meditations and psycho-spiritual techniques, for example, acupuncture, Centering prayer, Earth-Centred Retreats, the enneagram, homoeopathy, Interplay, Kripa Foundation, magnet therapy,
Myers-Briggs Temperament Indicator [MBTI], Neuro Linguistic Programming, vipassana, the World Community for Christian Meditation [WCCM], yoga, etc.
My research, as documented in dozens of articles and reports at my web site, conclusively proves that the archdiocese of Bombay is the leading promoter of New Age in the Catholic Church in India.
The archdiocese of Bombay is also the operational base of the two leading lay feminist ‘theologians’, Virginia Saldanha and Astrid Lobo Gajiwala, both of who are longtime senior executives in archdiocesan bodies, trusted advisors to the bishops, and who promote the ordination of women as priests.

Hence there is no necessity for me to include any more information on their being New Age.
Two of the documents listed above contain letters to the bishops including the then bishops of Bombay archdiocese as well as to CBCI Vice-President and Archbishop of Agra [now Cardinal] Oswald Gracias who is presently the Archbishop of Bombay and President of both the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India [CBCI] and the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India [CCBI].
Eight years have lapsed since the first of the reports. Nothing has changed on the New Age front in the Church, or even in the case of the two women named above who advocate the ordination of women.
Just a few days ago, I received a copy of a letter written to one Mr. Gordon Jacobs by Bishop Agnelo Gracias in which he says, “We have been implementing the suggestions of sensible parishioners (Virginia Saldanha and others)“.
So, a woman who is the Indian representative of a seditious international women-priests organization founded by a married ex-priest striving for women’s ordination is a “sensible” person while the many thoroughly documented reports and exposés from this ministry bringing to light serious assaults on Catholic faith, doctrine and spirituality are simply ignored as trash.
The purpose of the present report is to further place on record the extent to which the clergy of the Archdiocese of Bombay continue to support a New Age priest like Fr. Joe Pereira whose spiritual guru is a Brahmin yogi named BKS Iyengar and his yoga-based Kripa Foundation and the allied WCCM.
In four successive issues of the Bombay archdiocesan weekly The Examiner commencing August 3, 2013 and ending August 24, 2013, Fr. Joe Pereira has contributed a serialised write-up under the caption “A Global Healing Presence – 32 Years of Kripa Foundation“. Each issue gives him one and a half columns or three-fourths of a page of space to boast of his “Kripa Model” and the “Twelve Steps Programme“.
He boldly proclaims “the inclusion of Iyengar Yoga in Kripa” notwithstanding the inclusion of warnings against yoga in two Vatican Documents [1989 and 2003] and in the YouCat, Pope Benedict XVI’s Youth Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2011.
There are at least twenty-six separate articles and reports on the subject of yoga on this ministry’s web site, and fifteen testimonies of former yoga enthusiasts who came to Christ.

to appreciate why the 2003 Vatican Document on the New Age makes mention of it in the New Age list.
Fr. Pereira writes, “Kripa Foundation is the Archdiocesan Project for addiction and HIV/AIDS” and it does not matter if a “programme soaked in psycho-spirituality” [Twelve Steps, REBT] or yoga is employed.

He places on record his “collaboration” with the WCCM and takes a dig at the Catholic Charismatic Renewal which he claims “offered ‘quick fix’ solutions to alcoholics” while apparently his Kripa Foundation doesn’t.
The August 24-30 issue of The Examiner records the August 27 “engagements” of Cardinal Oswald Gracias:

One can see how high up in the Church the New Age rot reaches… or should I say where it originates?

Michael, the WCCM was not approved by the Pontifical Council in Rome. I understand Ivan Cardinal started this rot to gain brownie points with the earlier Pope. Last week Examiner has an East Indian Christopher Mendonca praising Joe Pereira. The damage is already done. Who can un cover this now? Kripa Foundation Ashram must be shut down and Joe Pereira excommunicated.
