Vishal Jagriti magazine pulls yoga series articles of Fr. Francis Clooney SJ

Vishal Jagriti is a monthly that is published on behalf or under the auspices of the All India Catholic Union from Mangalore.

It was earlier published from Goa as Vishal Jagruti but it shut down a couple of years ago and has now resumed publication with the issue of April 2014 under Mr. Lancy D’Cunha. Dr John Dayal, who was Member, National Integration Council, Government of India, National President, All India Catholic Union, Secretary General, All India Christian Council, President, United Christian Action, Delhi, is the Chairman of its editorial board.

I was greatly shocked to see in the April 2014 issue the first of a series of articles on yoga by Fr. Francis X. Clooney SJ, pages 12 and 13; its title: Jesuit Teaches Class on Patanjali’s Sutras.

I wrote to Mr. Dayal and to the other members of the editorial board that this priest is outright dangerous and a threat to the Faith. He figures in eleven of my articles and reports. He rejected and attacked the Vatican Document on the New Age: THEOLOGIANS LAMBAST THE VATICAN

Yoga is a tool of the Brahminisation of the Church. It is also avowedly Hindu and New Age. Hence its treatment in two Documents of the Church, those of 15 October 1989 and 3 February 2003.

My web site has at least fifteen different articles and reports running into over 1000 pages recording the spiritual dangers of the practice of yoga.

I requested Mr. Dayal and the board members to intervene and ensure that the serialisation of articles by this liberal priest is discontinued so as to not lead Catholics into spiritual error. I suggested that there are so many other good things that they could communicate to Catholics instead of finding themselves responsible before God for leading Catholics astray.

I asked them to let me know the result of their intervention.

I agree with you entirely on yoga. I have impleaded myself in a case in the Supreme Court against compulsory yoga in schools.
